Case delayed by inadequate psych assessment
IQALUIT — A Baker Lake man has had his court case adjourned to Sept. 14 because both Crown and defense lawyers were unsatisfied with a court-ordered psychological assessment.
James Warren Maxwell is charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of endangering life with a fire arm, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of uttering a death threat and one count of uttering a threat to commit bodily harm.
Maxwell was arrested after Yellowknife RCMP Cpl. Mike Beaudoin was wounded during a 15-hour standoff with a gunman who fired numerous shots at police officers in Baker Lake on May 31 and June 1.
