If you live in Iqaluit, you should be aware of how the holidays will affect municipal services.
The City of Iqaluit offices will be closed for half a day on each of Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, and for a full day on Dec. 25 and Dec. 26, as well as on Jan. 1, 2019.
In addition, trucked services may also be limited for some holiday hours, the city said in a news release.
Here’s the schedule for trucked services for waste disposal and water delivery during the holiday period:
• Dec. 24—regular service, delivered earlier in the day
• Dec. 25—no regular service
• Dec. 26— regular service
• Dec. 31—regular service, delivered earlier in the day
• Jan. 1—no regular service
Emergency trucked-service for water will be available, for a fee of $250, by contacting the non-emergency dispatch number at 979-5650.
“While the majority of people on trucked water service will not be affected, households containing five or more people may wish to consider conserving water by reducing and/or deferring laundry and the use of dishwashers,” the city release said.
For the recreation department’s holiday schedule, consult the city’s website or call guest services at 975.8544.
Regular office hours, as well as trucked services, resume Jan. 2, 2019.
a reminder that garbage wont be picked up for weeks just like every other year… yay..
Our neighbours in the next building start using our garbage bin when theirs get full. It would be nice if they could get an extra garbage bin, or have a pick-up on the 26th or 27th. Just saying.
