City of Iqaluit still plans to fly Greenland flag, despite delays

The City of Iqaluit is still not flying Greenland’s flag, despite city council’s decision to do so six months ago.
On Jan. 29, Iqaluit City council voted to raise the Greenland flag in light of comments from United States president Donald Trump about buying or otherwise taking over the autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark.
In March, city spokesperson Geoff Byrne said the flag-raising would coincide with the Inuit Circumpolar Council general assembly, which took place in Iqaluit last week.
But no flag went up.
The city “stands with its friends and neighbours in Greenland,” said Byrne Tuesday in an email, but “felt it was important that the [ICC general assembly] remain focused on the unity of Inuit from across the circumpolar region.”
City councillors met with the Greenlandic delegation, Byrne added, and expressed their support for Greenland in “discussions and engagement.”
The city’s intent “remains to proceed with the flag-raising and statement at a later date,” Byrne said, without offering a time frame.

If they want to focus on the unity of Inuit across the arctic, it’d be cool to see a flag representing that put up. Look up “ Vexillology Inuit People – Ancestral Colors Flag”. Such a beautiful flag and cool story behind the design elements. Something like this would be awesome to see across the different regions.
It’s ridiculous you’re using Trumps name to hide city incompetence.
