City signs on with self-insurance program

Iqaluit became the latest municipality to join the “made-in-Nunavut” insurance program Namix last week when it signed on the dotted line.

Although Ian Fremantle, the city’s CAO, has many reservations about the program, the city was forced to sign up or it would have been without insurance altogether.

Namix is a newly created self-insurance program which, to date, has enlisted most of the hamlets across Nunavut.
