Icebreaking operations around Iqaluit are now scheduled to begin Thursday.

The icebreaking was initially schedule to begin on June 28 but will now be starting on July 4.

The operations were delayed due to a change in industry schedules, the City of Iqaluit announced on Thursday.

The city previously announced the CCGS Amundsen, a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker, will be assisting with the Woodward Group of Companies’ annual resupply.

Residents were advised residents to use caution if travelling in the bay, remove any equipment and property from the ice, and steer clear of ice activities ahead of the icebreaking.
