Convicted killer heads back to jail
Joyriding while drunk means convicted killer Jessie Mary Annanack, 26, is in jail, instead of at home.
Annanack had been serving out her sentence for manslaughter under house arrest in her home community of Kangiqsualujjuaq.
That is, until March 15, when police arrested Annanack driving in a truck belonging to the municipality. She was also intoxicated, according to police.
Annanack was charged with impaired driving and theft of more than $5,000.
Because Annanack also broke the conditions of her house arrest, she was immediately shipped off to jail.
Earlier this year, Annanack was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Robert Legault.
Legault died on March 16, 2002 at Kangiqsualujjuaq’s health clinic due to loss of blood from a single stab wound to his leg.
Quebec Superiour Court Judge Claude Bigue said Annanack could serve out her sentence in Kangiqsualujjuaq. Annanack’s remaining jail time, a 24-month sentence, minus one day, would be served under house arrest.
Annanack had a severe set of conditions to meet, with no permission to leave the premises of her home, except for work or medical reasons.
