By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Iqaluit RCMP seized one kilogram of marijuana from a man walking off a plane at the airport on Monday, Oct. 30.

Working on a tip from a local resident, police waited at the airport with their police dog, Lar.

A short time later police charged Jamie Throp, a 32-year-old Iqaluit resident, with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Throp was released on conditions and will make his first appearance at the Nunavut Court of Justice on Jan. 8.

Police continue to call for tips from residents concerned about the flow of drugs into the territory.
