Council fired up for smoking bylaw consultations
City council is gearing up for discussions about introducing a no-smoking bylaw to Iqaluit.
On June 11, council will meet with business owners to get their input on how to craft a new law that could possibly prohibit or limit smoking in Iqaluit’s stores and restaurants.
Then on Aug. 13, the city will hold another meeting to inform residents about the rules council is considering. A week later, council will present restaurant owners with the public’s comments on the proposed bylaw.
Council expects to see the first copy of the no-smoking bylaw in early September.
