Dam to be repaired
Iqaluit city council decided to go ahead with a $70,000 repair of the Lake Geraldine reservoir dam. Inspections of the dam had previously identified a water leak in the concrete that became larger over the past year.
The repair will ensure this hole does not become even larger over the coming year, leading to an additional cost for repair. As well, more drinking water will be available for Iqaluit because water will not be lost through the leak from the reservoir, whose water reserves are already being used to the maximum during the winter months.
