Death threats lead to jail time
A drunk man who threatened to harm his brother and then turned on the police was sentenced to four months plus a day in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of uttering threats.
The court heard how Morgan Arnakallak, 39, got drunk on home-brew and threatened to shoot his brother on March 10, 2002 in Pond Inlet.
While in police custody, the intoxicated man said he wanted to shoot the two on-duty police officers, just as someone had shot Const. Jurgen Seewald in Cape Dorset, the court heard.
Arnakallak said he never intended following through with the threats.
