Defence challenges dangerous offender application
Defence lawyer Euan Mackay is fighting the Crown’s application to have Mosesee Nowdluk deemed a dangerous offender.
A jury convicted Nowdluk, 37, of arson on Oct. 17 and he awaits sentencing. However, Mackay is appealing the jury’s verdict.
A dangerous offender can be held in jail indefinitely.
“Arson is not a serious offence,” Mackay argued.
The dangerous offender application hearing is scheduled for Jan. 20.
