Do you know who these people are?
Nunavummiut are being asked to help identify the people in a series of photos from the Churchill Vocational Centre displayed in the Legislative Assembly’s foyer in Iqaluit.
Fifty-two black and white images dating back to 1964 need identification. Some 1,200 Inuit youth from the Eastern Arctic and Nunavik attended the school, which operated for nine years and provided academic, trade and job training.
The exhibition is part of a 450-photo collection belonging to Baker Lake’s Itsarnittakarvik Inuit Heritage Centre.
A book is available in the Legislative Assembly for visitors to help identify friends and relatives in the photos. The book and photos will be returned to the Itsarnittakarvik Centre for use in an online photo archive and CD-ROM.
