Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead by 1 hour
It’s time to spring forward and enjoy more evening sunlight
Get set to spring forward this weekend as clocks move ahead by one hour for most of Canada. The time change will bring longer days and later sunsets. (Photo courtesy of Rogerkaiya Qamaniq)
Did you remember to set your clocks ahead by one hour?
Daylight saving time took effect Sunday, March 10, at 2 a.m., meaning you lose an hour of sleep in the morning but, on the plus side, you will gain an hour of daylight in the evening.
Most smartphones and other devices will reset themselves automatically but some clocks, including those in older vehicles, will need a manual change.
This weekend’s time change is one event that residents of Coral Harbour will sit out, however. The hamlet is located on Southampton Island, which remains on Central Standard Time year-round.
The same goes for Yukon, which functions on Yukon Standard Time and does not spring forward or fall back.
According to timeanddate.com, other regions of Canada that don’t use daylight saving time include the Lower North Shore of Quebec, parts of British Columbia and parts of southwest Ontario.
