Don’t be sarcastic about litterers

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

First, thanks to all of you who make Nunatsiaq News possible and keep us informed of things happening within our Nunavut territory.

I make a point of trying to read Nunatsiaq News each day as you have very good articles ,which are relevant and are tastefully written.

You posted a picture of a Tim Horton’s paper cup on the snow with a caption to the effect that it is a “time-honored Iqaluit tradition.”

As I tell my children, I pass this on to you as well — being sarcastic is not a good habit to get into so please don’t do it where my kids will point it out to me and say if Nunatsiaq News can do it, why can’t I?

If you are trying to teach others that littering should not happen, tell them. Although I am not from there, Iqaluit is no more littered then the other communities.

A time-honored tradition reminds me of days especially now, when each Christmas right after morning service, we would be gifted by our hardworking Mr. and Mrs. Sperry who took the time to find presents for every member of each household. Then there would be a wonderful feast at the church.

You are the ones we look to for positive and good wording so please keep this in mind. Thanks.
