The RCMP say they seized a quantity of illegal liquor coming into Iqaluit from Montreal on Dec. 20.

One person was questioned by police and later released. Const. Peter Lambros of V Division’s drug unit said the flow of illegal alcohol into the communities continues to affect crime rates in Nunavut.

“These were significant seizures that will have a positive impact of ensuring a safe and happy holiday season,” he said. The investigation continues.

A quantity of a controlled substance was seized by the RCMP’s V Division drug unit at the First Air cargo facility in Iqaluit Dec. 20.

Lina Kuniloosie of Ottawa has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Kuniloosie will make her first appearance in Justice of the Peace court in Iqaluit Jan. 8.

Police didn’t say what the “controlled substance” is.
