Dope dealer banned from Iqaluit
Mark Edwards, 21, received a three-month conditional sentence after pleading guilty to possessing 1.4 kilograms — just over three pounds — of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Once Edwards’s three month sentence is served, he’s banned from visiting or living in Iqaluit for one year.
The conviction follows a drug bust at the Iqaluit airport on November 2, 2001.
RCMP officers in V Division’s drug section seized drugs worth an estimated $50,000 from a third party who was not named in court.
The third party, a 15-year-old boy, received a one-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to drug possession earlier this year.
Police arrested Edwards after a tip from the teen, said Crown lawyer Michel Bertrand.
Edwards is already living in Ottawa and wants to pursue a career in refrigerator repair.
