Embrace Life fund recalls Ben Williams

The memory of Ben Williams will be preserved in a special fund at the Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit Embrace Life Council.

The council has been receiving donations in Williams’ name since his family made the request to people stunned by his death in a snowmobile accident this spring.

“Ben was so committed to increasing youth self-esteem,” said Virginia Lloyd, Williams’s widow. “We want to make sure he is remembered for his love of working with the youth.”

“The fund will help the council build youth and family harmony,” said president Sheila Levy.

Williams was one of six men in the first all-Inuit RCMP troop to graduate from RCMP training in 1999. He served in Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit.
