Nunavik throat singers Sylvia Cloutier, Akinisie Sivuaraapik and Sara Surusila were in Greenland at the end of November performing with Think Of One, a prize-winning world music band from Belgium.

The two groups premiered their joint Etoiles Polaires (North Stars) show at the Katuaq cultural centre in Nuuk.

“The throat singers did an amazing performance at the Katuaq. I am so happy to be with Akinisi and Sarah – they are part of my history,” Sylvia Cloutier told Siku news in Nuuk.

After their performance in Nuuk, the throat singers and band left on tour to Belgium, where they played in the Voorhuit cultural center in the city of Ghent and then to the Netherlands for two more shows.

The ensemble is also scheduled to perform next year in Montreal at the Festival des musiques autochtones.

Think of One received a BBC 3 World Music Award in 2004.
