Facing “staffing challenges,” Rankin Inlet post office to re-open today

Rankin Inlet residents are confused over the status of the local post office, which has been closed since the weekend. Two sources who do not wish to be named alleged this happened because all employees quit at once. Canada Post said in a Facebook statement that the post office closed because of “staffing challenges beyond our control,” but would re-open Sept. 11. A later statement said the office would re-open today, Sept. 12, at noon. (Photo by Emma Tranter)

This wouldn’t happen to be a management issue? Why else would people quit en masse? I suspect we will never know, unless you know these people personally.

RCMP can’t seem to find Inuit recruits. Dept of Ed can’t seem to find Inuktut speakers who want to be teachers. Is it a surprise that this is happening?

This isn’t strictly an Inuit hiring issue.
