Fall preliminary for accused cop-killer
IQALUIT — The Cape Dorset man accused of killing an RCMP member will have his preliminary inquiry in the fall of this year.
Salomonie Jaw, 46, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Const. Jurgen Seewald on March 5.
Jaw barricaded himself inside his Cape Dorset home following the shooting, and surrendered to police 16 hours later.
Jaw’s preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Oct. 3 in Iqaluit.
Preliminary inquiries are held to determine if there is enough evidence to justify sending cases to trial.
