Streets are closed around Tundra Valley home as firefighters battle blaze

Firefighters in Iqaluit responded to a house fire late Friday afternoon in the city’s Tundra Valley neighbourhood.

RCMP officers have closed the 2400 block at the beginning of Tundra Valley to traffic.

Smoke was billowing from appeared to be a two-storey home and brushing up against the house next door.

At least four trucks were on scene as part of the firefighting effort at around 6 p.m. local time.

Firefighters could be seen using saws to cut into the garage of the house.
