Nunavik’s Mary Simon, an Inuit leader, former ambassador and a former journalist, was installed as Canada’s 30th Governor General during a ceremony in the Senate, in Ottawa on Monday morning.

She is the first Indigenous person to hold that post as the Queen’s representative in Canada.
