Get on with the CamBay school
The MLAs in the Nunavut legislative assembly who have been complaining about our high school should realize that we are in dire need of a building that our students can call their home.
For the past two years, they have put up with having to go to different buildings (old MOT buildings) to complete their education, which I believe has deterred some of our finest, and has given them second thoughts about completing their schooling.
I’m sure the MLAs feel the same way about their new Legislative Assembly building, when in the past, they had to do the exact same thing that our students are experiencing now.
I realize that there’s other communities that are in need of new schools or upgrades to their existing buildings. But please, don’t deprive our students of the basic need of an education by continually delaying the construction of our new school.
Our hamlet was kind enough to put some of their money towards this project for an extension to our gymnasium and a cultural center, so let’s get on with it. Approve the project so that students, not only from Cambridge Bay, but kids from the outlying communities as well, can have a new home.
I truly wish the MLAs can see it from that point of view. Thank-you for taking the time to read my letter.
Taima.
