Girl crushed by truck, flown to Ottawa
A young girl was medevaced to Ottawa with a broken hip after a three-quarter ton truck backed over her in front of Arctic Ventures on Monday at noon.
“When he looked back and saw the vehicles stopped, he was under the impression they were stopping for him,” said Sgt. Rod Faith with the RCMP, describing the driver as he backed out of the store. No charges have been laid.
Traffic and kids often mill about the front of the store.
“It’s always something waiting to happen. It’s too bad,” Faith said.
Details on the girl’s condition were not available by press time.
