Arviat’s airport remains open despite a fuel spill at the air terminal building, the Department of Economic Development and Transportation said Thursday.

The Government of Nunavut is investigating the cause of the spill and working on the cleanup, the department said in a news release.

While all airport services remain available, it said Calm Air is temporarily using its cargo facility to operate its flights.

In its release, the department did not say when the fuel spill occurred. However, Calm Air posted about its change in protocol on Facebook on Wednesday.
