GN names new deputy minister of education
IQALUIT — A Nova Scotia education official has been named Nunavut’s deputy minister of education.
Tom Rich, who spent the last six years as Nova Scotia’s assistant deputy minister of education, will begin work in Nunavut on April 1.
He will replace Robert Moody, the current deputy minister for the department. Moody, also a former Nova Scotia government official, has worked in Nunavut since the spring of 1998, when he was hired by the Office of the Interim Commissioner.
Prior to working in Nova Scotia, Rich was an education administrator in Prince Edward Island and Alberta. He has a master’s degree in education from Concordia University in Montreal.
Rich will serve under Peter Kilabuk, Nunavut’s minister of education.
