GN top employees reap bonus money
A document tabled in response to a written question from Cambridge Bay MLA Keith Peterson on March 8 shows 150 employees of the Public Service and Crown Agencies in Nunavut received handsome performance bonuses in 2003-2004.
These performance bonuses are sums of money paid in addition to salaries and other benefits. For the fiscal year 2003-2004, a total of $710, 643.78 was paid in performance bonuses to members of the GN’s public service, while $95,024.82 was paid to members of the GN’s crown agencies, Nunavut Arctic College, the Nunavut Housing Corporation and the Nunavut Development Corporation. A total of 150 employees received bonuses, with the greatest numbers in the education, health, transportation and finance departments. As well, $585,786 from the GN and $213,749.65 from the Qulliq Energy Corporation went out in termination payments.
