Greenland cabinet shuffle

Last week Jørgen Wæver Johansen resigned as Greenland’s minister responsible for self-government.

“I must respect the consequences of the last half-year’s significant differences of opinion between the Premier and myself. For both parties, it’s best to admit, that my time as minister in the executive coalition led by Hans Enoksen ends here. I am also doing that because I wish the freedom to continue my political work as member of legislative assembly,” Johansen told KNR television.

MLA Tommy Marø has taken over Johansen´s cabinet position. However, Marø will not be the minister responsible for self-government – instead, he becomes the minister for family and justice.

Premier Hans Enoksen is taking back the self-government portfolio. At the same time, Asii Chemnitz Narup of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party, the former minister responsible for family and health, will now be solely responsible for health in the home rule government.
