Greenlandic tupilaks hit the comic books

An adaptation of the Greenlandic story of “Nikook and the Tupilak” has been artistically rendered for the fourth issue of the critically-acclaimed comic book “Students of the Unusual.”

International artist Jorge Calamato used many traditional images to produce the frightening story of the Tupilak. The story was adapted by Terry Cronin, the writer and publisher of “Students of the Unusual,” who is also intrigued by the legends of the tupilaks, creatures fashioned of plant and animal remains and brought to life by shamans.
