The Grise Fiord health centre is closed this week, except for emergencies.
The closure is due to staff shortages in the community, the Department of Health said Monday in a public service announcement.
People can still call the health centre to reach on-site staff who can help, by phone, with services like filling prescriptions and medical travel. There will also be an option to be directed to virtual health support services.
There will be staff on site this week to provide emergency care.
The department is asking community members to be patient when calling, due to an expected increase in calls.
“Calls may be automatically forwarded to other communities,” the announcement said.
The health centre is scheduled to reopen June 14.
