Gun-toting teen sentenced

A young offender who pleaded guilty to three firearm charges dating back to Dec. 27, 2000, in Cape Dorset was sentenced to 15 months of secured custody.

The 16-year-old boy fired several shots during a Christmas community feast. No one was injured.

The boy, who cannot be named under the Young Offenders Act, faces an 18-month probation period and a two-year firearm prohibition upon his release.
