Have fudge, will travel

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Starting on March 4, Rosie Stancer, 47, will attempt to haul two sledges from Ward Hunt Island on the northern tip of Nunavut to become the first woman to trek solo to the North Pole.

If all goes according to plan, Stancer will travel over 415 nautical miles to the pole, taking 60 days.

Stancer will achieve a double world first if she’s successful because she would also become the first woman to walk solo to both poles. Stancer skied solo and without re-supply to the South Pole in 2003-2004.

Prince Charles is Stancer’s expedition patron, and he provided her with some fudge from his Highgrove country estate to keep her going.
