Head injury killed pilot
IQALUIT — An autopsy conducted in Toronto last week has determined that helicopter pilot Charles Carom died of blunt-force head trauma.
Carom, 35, died instantly when his helicopter crashed to the ground Aug. 9 near Flint Lake on northwestern Baffin Island.
One of Carom’s passengers, Mike Daniska, 22, died of burns he sustained in the crash.
Meanwhile, the sole survivour of the crash, 49-year-old Clyde River resident Adam Paneak, was still in critical condition at Ottawa General Hospital on Monday. Paneak suffered extensive burns in the crash.
