Herring moves back home to Iceland

Until recently, herring, once one of Iceland’s most profitable and abundant fish stocks, hadn’t been seen close to Iceland for almost 40 years.

However, recently boats have been loading up on herring off Iceland’s eastern coast. The return of the herring is likely due to changes the North Atlantic water temperature.
