How Canada voted

On June 28, Prime Minister Paul Martin’s Liberal’s did far better than opinion polls suggested, hanging on to power with 135 seats, only 20 short of the 155 needed to form a majority in the House of Commons.

It’s expected that Martin will govern with help from the NDP, which won 19 seats.

Conservative Party of Canada
99 seats 29.6 %

Bloc Québécois
54 seats 12.4 %

New Democratic Party
19 seats 15.7 %

Other
1 seat 5.6 %
