How to win an RFP

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Iqaluit residents got a chance this week to take a course in the art of extracting money and contracts from government agencies, in a proposal writing workshop sponsored by the department of sustainable development.

The one-day workshop, held Oct. 23, featured consultant Michael Asner, who has conducted similar events throughout North America.

Asner talked to workshop participants about the basics of proposal writing, “problems and challenges” in writing proposals, and “writing to win.”

He also talked about RFPs, or requests for proposals.

Many governments now use RFPs, rather than public tenders, to find contractors able to supply goods, services, and to deliver privatized government programs.
