Human remains have been discovered along the shoreline near Clyde River about one week after a boy was reported missing.
The remains have yet to be identified, RCMP said Monday in a news release. Police are working with the Nunavut coroner’s office to confirm their identity, the release said.
When reached by phone, Nunavut Chief coroner Marianna Cervantes declined comment, saying her office would release more information “soon.”
A hunter contacted police on Thursday to report the discovery.
Residents have been searching for a boy who went missing on Aug. 6. He was last seen riding a makeshift raft when a current pulled him and another boy away from shore. Neither were wearing life jackets.
