Icebreaker off Kangiqsujuaq

An icebreaker ventures near Kangiqsujuaq while escorting a sealift resupply vessel on Thursday, July 16. “It was the closest I have ever seen an icebreaker get to the shore in my 25 years living here,” wrote Marion James, who took this photo. “I opened my door from my house, which is located on the beach, and there it was!” (Photo by Marion James)

This ice breaker heading from ivujivik to salluit then to Waltham really ruined the end season of beluga hunting this year. DFO should take that into account and extend our season by at least a week. The migration was interrupted for a good week due to not having passage for the sealift.
