No one needed to ask, “What’s for dessert?” in Igloolik on Saturday.
“Pie” was the obvious answer for a lot of people.
The hamlet’s chief administrative officer George Qaunaq, Sivuniit Middle School teacher KT Melanson, and resident Melvin Taqquagaq were among the targets in a pie-throwing fundraiser that raised $1,400 for the school.
For $20 a throw, people lined up for the chance to hit someone in the face with a pie.
These pictures are the result of a partnership between Nunatsiaq News and Sivuniit Middle School’s journalism club in Igloolik. The club helps students learn about news writing and photography. Students Lola Makkik and Helen Arnatsiaq were on hand to capture the fun at the community event.
