An Igloolik woman faces a second-degree murder charge in the death of her husband over the weekend, the RCMP says.
At about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, police in Igloolik received a report of an incident in the community. Several hours later, at around 4 p.m., Jacintha Tulugajuk was arrested “without incident,” a Nunavut RCMP spokesperson said Tuesday in an email to Nunatsiaq News.
Following an investigation by the Igloolik RCMP and the force’s major crime unit and forensic identification services, Jacintha Tulugajuk was charged with second-degree murder in the death of her husband Leo Tulugajuk.
The police spokesperson said he could not disclose how Leo Tulugajuk died.
Jacintha Tulugajuk’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 24.
