Illisaivattunut Ulluq to celebrate teachers

Peter Kilabuk, the minister of education, has marked the last Monday of February as Illisaivattunut Ulluq, a day for those who teach.

Feb. 25 will be a day to recognize and celebrate not only formal classroom teachers, but language specialists, elders and leaders of cultural programs, as well.

Kilabuk did not announce any formal celebrations, but, in a release, encouraged Nunavummiut to “find ways to appreciate all those who teach.”
