Quebec’s independent investigation bureau is looking into an incident in Puvirnituq that left a suspect seriously injured during an arrest.
According to an announcement on the bureau’s website Tuesday, Nunavik police arrested a person at 3:13 p.m. on March 7 at a residence in the community.
The bureau did not reveal the name or gender of the person arrested and did not say why officers were called to the residence.
The person was injured while being taken into custody at the local police station. They were then transported to hospital, where their condition was deemed stable.
Five investigators have been put on the case, according to the announcement. The bureau asks anyone who witnessed the incident to reach out via its website.
Quebec’s independent investigation bureau is called in whenever someone other than a police officer dies or suffers injuries during police detention.

There were five bureau investigations made on the Nunavik Police Service in 2023 says NN. How many of the NPS brutality and abuse of their authority wasn’t reported because the police service investigators will take the side of the police officers (their friend or buddies) instead of listening to the Inuit. This has happened to me and I was told they will investigate. Nothing happened. The investigators believed their same cultured group instead of believing in an Inuk. The Police Investigating Their Own. How Sad Is That?????
nothing will happen to them they always always get a way with it Scott free. eskimos are less important than whites that’s how they look at it.
It should be legislated that all police stations in all of Canada have video and audio recordings
It should also be legislated all police officers have body worn cameras.
These two things would make investigations easier. It would protect police officers from allegations of misconduct and would protect the public from police brutality.
