So Proud of you Girl Guides! Back in July of 1971 I took a group of nine Guides from Resolute to Guide Camp just north of Ottawa! We were gone two weeks and it was, from start to finish, a wonderful time for all of us! Canadian Forces provided transportation down and back from Resolute and we raised money for fun things with bake and clothing sales before we left. My mom’s church group collected summer clothing and footwear for all the girls and sent it up ahead of time to Resolute; it was a hoot as they tried things on at our last regular meeting. To the best of my knowledge it was the first time out of Nunavut (then NWT) for all the girls. My biggest surprise of the trip? On the first day when they went swimming none of them had the least bit of fear , they just waded in and started doing the dog paddle….I cried with joy! I will send a photo or two if you can send me an email address.
I hope you all have a wonderful time! Cathy Welch
