Iqaluit man faces kidnapping charge

An Iqaluit man faces a series of charges related to an alleged kidnapping last week.
Iqaluit RCMP responded on Wednesday, April 10 to a complaint that a man had been taken from a home in the city and held at gunpoint by another man. No one was injured in the incident.
Police later arrested and charged 23-year-old Gabriel Choquette, who faces a charge of kidnapping with a firearm and “several other Criminal Code offences,” the RCMP said in an April 15 press release.
Choquette made a first appearance in court on April 11 and was released with several conditions.
He is scheduled to appear again in court on May 6.
