An Iqaluit man faces a series of charges related to an alleged kidnapping last week.

Iqaluit RCMP responded on Wednesday, April 10 to a complaint that a man had been taken from a home in the city and held at gunpoint by another man.  No one was injured in the incident.

Police later arrested and charged 23-year-old Gabriel Choquette, who faces a charge of kidnapping with a firearm and “several other Criminal Code offences,” the RCMP said in an April 15 press release.

Choquette made a first appearance in court on April 11 and was released with several conditions.

He is scheduled to appear again in court on May 6.
