A 14-year-old girl is uninjured after getting stranded on rock cliffs near Inuksuk High School in Iqaluit on Sunday.
RCMP and the Iqaluit Fire Department responded to a report at around 6:15 p.m., RCMP said Tuesday in a news release.
The girl was stuck on rocks that are located between the school and an eight-storey building nearby. The release does not identify the girl.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. George Henrie said he didn’t know exactly how long the girl had been there for, however rescuers “arrived within minutes.”
Three RCMP officers worked to reach the girl and secure her, while the Iqaluit Fire Department deployed a fire truck ladder to rescue her from the cliff, according to the release.
The girl was taken to Qikiqtani General Hospital as a precautionary measure but was later released and has been reunited with her family, the release said.
