The City of Iqaluit is seeking nominations for its 2022 Volunteer Appreciation Awards.

The awards recognize people who have contributed positively to the community.

There is currently a lack of nominations, said recreation programmer Josie Cote, so the city is extending the nomination period to Oct. 13.

“If residents know of a person that deserves recognition for their contribution to the community, the City of Iqaluit would love to hear from you,” Cote said in an announcement Wednesday.

Digital nominations can be filled out online here.

Residents can also submit a nomination by email by filling out a form on the City of Iqaluit’s website and submitting it to j.cote@iqaluit.ca.

The 2022 Volunteer Appreciation Awards will be held Nov. 16.

I tried so hard to improve public “something” system for everyone in the territory.

As do I, and others, Shawn.

Our efforts are akin to a scientist realizing a cure that is contrary to the status quo, and having the discovery oppressed because it will upsets the oppressors’ gravy train. Has been happening since the dawn of civilization and will continue; we push forward, nonetheless, because our nature insists.

No use dying on your current mountain, Shawn. Move on if that’s the right thing to do
