The City of Iqaluit increased taxi fares, effective May 1, 2026.

The standard fare changed from $9.50 to $9.75, with no change to the $8 fare for elders. Children under the age of 10 accompanied by an adult will continue to ride for free, according to a public service announcement issued by the City of Iqaluit.

In a social media post, Caribou Cabs said its drivers will continue to accept $9.50 vouchers with no additional charge until July 1. The city advised residents and businesses to contact Caribou Cabs before then to exchange any remaining $9.50 blue vouchers at market value.

The city said this rate adjustment follows the provisions outlined in Iqaluit’s taxi tariff bylaw. and reflects the city’s routine fare review process.
