A fire that damaged several vehicles in Iqaluit on the evening of Aug. 1 remains under investigation, the Nunavut RCMP says.
“The Iqaluit detachment did [a] thorough investigation, and it was determined that the fires were suspicious in nature,” Cpl. George Henrie, a Nunavut RCMP spokesperson, said in an email Wednesday.
“The investigation is ongoing, but if no suspects or witnesses are identified, the investigation will be concluded.”
Henrie said anyone with information should contact the RCMP to speak with investigators.
Two young people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation in the fire, which happened in a parking lot in Tundra Ridge.
The two were “fine” after being treated, according to City of Iqaluit spokesperson Geoff Byrne.
Two vehicles were “seriously affected” and a few others sustained minor damage, Byrne said, and they all appeared to be “derelict.”
The lot where last week’s fire happened was behind a residential building that was partially damaged by a fire Jan. 16.
That fire, in which one person died, was deemed not suspicious by investigators.
There was another one last night, now surely there is someone who is deliberately doing this?? I hope they don’t move on to buildings. The cops did to investigate it right!

Crack crack crack city 😂
