Iqaluit goes online
City Council almost approved a proposal on Tuesday to spend $7,000 to $9,000 on a new City of Iqaluit website.
The new site will be more user friendly, and will allow city workers to post regularly updated information, including: council minutes and by-laws; job opportunities; city tenders and contracts; and a listing of recreation activities.
Kelly Craver of Arctic Sky Media was selected to develop the site after a request for proposals earlier this year, and to handle maintenance on an as-needed basis.
Councillor Nancy Gillis suggested not approving the new site until a closer estimate of maintenance costs could be obtained, which CAO Ian Fremantle agreed to do.
“As-and-when can really add up,” she said.
