The City of Iqaluit’s indoor sports field at the Arctic Winter Games arena is set to open on Wednesday, July 15.

The reopening follows that of the aquatic centre’s lap pool, which began accepting swimmers for lane swimming on July 10.

Phase two of the city’s reopening plan will continue on July 20, with the fitness centre opening for solo workouts only.

Family and public swims will be reopening at later dates in phases three and four.

Much like those who would like to visit the aquatic centre during the first two phases of reopening, residents wishing to book the turf field and lobby for sports, activities and other
private rentals must do so online.

The Makkuttukkuvik Youth Centre will also be offering outdoor programming for youth between the ages of 13 and 17 outside of the arena every Thursday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Anyone with questions can contact the recreation department by email or at 867-979-5611.
